This is my life story. Minutes and seconds my story (to borrow the lyrics from a well-loved song).

Songstress

I'm a closet songstress. A bathroom singer. A closet performer dying to be the next rocker chick or jazz siren.

Yeah, you heard me right (pun fully intended here). Past experience has shown that people love to hear me sing (yeah, right) and that they'll pay, yes, pay for the privilege. Okay, I'm exaggerating here, but doesn't hurt to fantasize doesn't it?

What's playing in your MP3/Discman or radio right now? For me, some songs are enough to get my fingers snapping, my feet moving and grooving... and of course, croon to my imaginary mike (right now, I'm holding a broom, but it'll do for now.)

Here are my favorites:
Moondance - for a swingy, jazzy day
Come Fly with Me - A real mood lifter. Sends me off on a dream excursion to Malta, Britanny, Paris, Barcelona and so, so many more ... all the places that I want to go!
I Hate Myself For Loving You - Brings out the rocker chick in me.
Haven't We Met - Can't find the lyrics to this Carol Kidd favourite. Can anyone help?
Desert Rose - A Sting classic - he's my all-time favorite! I'd pay to see him perform live!
A Thousand Years - another haunting Sting song
The Way You Look Tonight - terribly romantic.
Crazy In Love - loved it for its strong, brassy start-it's absolutely attention-grabbing.

Chinese songs:
Anything by Sandy Lam, Winnie Shin ad Power Station - the females for their thoughtful lyrics, the men for their angsty performances.

Anyway, do visit Let's Sing It.Com for more song lyrics. Too bad they don't store Carol Kidd's.

You know what are prison singers? They are always behind a few bars and couldn't get the right key.
